Summary Conan has enlisted as a mercenary with a band of Aesir. They defeat a band of Vanir, whose leaders flee into the mountains. Here they enlist the help of a wizard who summons winged creatures which attack the Aesir. Conan is captured, but escapes and destroys the source of the wizard's power.
Comments First appearance of Conan. He glimpses his future kingship.

Issue 2 Lair of the Beast-Men 20 : 1/1

Summary Conan is captured by the Beast-Men and enslaved in their underground city. Forced to fight in the arena he inspires a slave revolt, lead by Kiord, which overthrows the Beast-Men.
Comments Inspired by a passage from REH's The Hyborian Age.

Issue 3 The Twilight of the Grim Grey God 20 : 1/1

Summary After escaping from the Hyperborians, Conan meets the Grey God who tells of a coming war. He joins the Brythunian forces. During the fight the Brythunian are betrayed and the two kings kill each other. Conan witnesses the Grey God collecting souls for the last time.

Summary Conan learns of great jewel held in a sorcerer's tower, which he sets out to steal, meeting a fellow thief along the way. He discovers an imprisoned creature in the tower, Yag-Kosha, on whom he takes pity on. Presenting the sorcerer the Heart of the Elephant, he escape the tower as the spirit of Yag-Kosha exacts revenge and the tower collapses.

Summary Conan witnesses the attack on a village by a demonic tiger, who attacks and then spares him. Hired by the villagers to kill the wizard Zukala. He meets Zukala's daugther, Zephra, who professes her love and defends him from a summoned demon in the form of a tiger. In the ensuing fight Zukala and Zephra escape and Conon leaves with the villager's gold.

Summary After encountering Jenna, the two are waylaid by devotees of the Night God and Jenna is carried off. Conan infiltrates the temple and rescues her from the monstrous Night God, only to have her desert him and steal his gold.

Summary Approaching Numalia, Conan rescues a woman from wolves. She hires him to steal a Bowl, which is a gift from Stygia to Karanthes. Breaking into the House of Relics, Conan is discovered and then attacked by a Son of Set, which he kills. Seeing the face of Thoth-Amon in the bowl, Conan flees the city.

Summary Fleeing Corinthian guards Conan discovers an ancient city. He teams-up with one of the guards and explores a treasure-filled temple, stealing a jade serpent. Attacked by giant mummies they escape outside, where the creatures are destroyed by sunlight. Conan escapes to a nearby village and meets Jenna. The jade serpent becomes real and kills the magistrate. Conan and Jenna flee.

Summary Conan and Jenna meet savage tribesmen, who take them to a hidden valley. A winged man carries off Jenna, and Conan crosses the valley to rescue her from the creature's tower. He battles and kills the winged man, the last of his race.

Summary Arriving in the city with Jenna, Conan rescues and then teams-up with Burgon. They work as thieves and steal from the house of the Red Priest. Burgon is betrayed, caught and hanged. Conan avenges him, killing the Priest of Anu.
Comments Story based on an introductory paragraph in the REH Conan Story Rogues in the House. Oversize 52-page issue, includes reprint story Men of the Shadows from Black Knight #5 by Stan Lee and Syd Shores. Also has a new King Kull story by Marie and John Severin illustrating an REM poem.

Summary Betrayed by Jenna to the guards, Conan is captured. Murilo arranges his escape in return for the assassination of the Red Priest. They meet agian in the Priest's house, only to find him overpowered by his monstrous servant. Conan kills the beast and then the priest.

Summary Conan is ambushed in the desert and brought before Queen Fatima, who takes him as a lover. After showing affection for a slave girl, he is imprisoned in the dungeons with the Dweller in the Dark. He escapes, throws Fatima to the creature and crowns the slave girl as Queen.
Comments Adapted from the REH story The Dark Man. Originally drawn for Savage Tales #4, but coloured by Barry Smith and used here first. Also contains short story, The Blood of the Dragon, drawn by Gil Kane.

Summary His horse stolen by bandits, Conan wanders the desert. He is rescued by an old man whose daughter has been taken for sacrifice to the Spider-God of Yezud. Conan goes to rescue her. He frees a fellow prisoner Tork and kills the Spider-God. He escapes with the girl, the city now collapsing thanks to Tork's efforts in the tunnels below it.
